In December last year, South Korea’s parliament passed a bill allowing the BTS group to delay its mandatory military service until the age of 30. By law in South Korea, all able-bodied men aged 18 to 28 are required to serve in the military for approximately 20 months. However, on the afternoon of 23 June the Korean government said that the mandatory military enlistment of the BTS would naturally be delayed if they submitted an application. “BTS have not yet submitted an application for military service. But if they do, the government will naturally insist on postponing their military recruitment,” Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Hwang Hee said in a statement on YTN. Jin is the oldest member in the BTS group. He turned 28 on December 4 last year.
