Starring Academy Award winner Jennifer Hudson, there are no awards to guess that Respect is one of the most anticipated movies of the year. The film, based on music icon Aretha Franklin, has been making noise right since its announcement. Keeping the excitement high among the fans, the makers of the film have just released the first look feature of Respect, which features commentary from none other than the stunning actress.
Here’s a short clip of the original score of the piece, co-written by Carole King and co-writer Jamie Hartman (who has worked with Louise Capaldi and Christina Aguilera). The person in charge during production is Wiill.I.Am, a former member of the Black Eyed Peas. Check out the video below:
Following Franklin’s career rise from a child singing in her father’s church choir to her international superstardom, Respect is based on the true story of Aretha Franklin where she travels to find her voice.
The film featured particularly iconic songs “Respect,” “I Say a Little Prayer,” “Think,” “(You Make Me Feel Like a) Natural Woman,” “You’ve Got a Friend,” “Dr. Feelgood,” “Do the Right Woman, Do the Right Man,” “Spanish Harlem,” and “Young, Gifted and Black.” The film includes “Ain’t No Way,” “Precious Lord,” “There’s a Fountain Field with Blood,” ” Amazing Grace,” and “Chain of Fools.”
In addition to Jennifer Hudson, the stellar ensemble of honors also includes Academy Award, Golden Globe and Emmy winner Forrest Whitaker; Marlon Wayans; Tony, Grammy and Emmy winner Audra McDonald; and multiple Grammy winner, Academy Award and Golden Globe nominee Mary J. Blige.
