For all Fast & Furious fans out there, the death of Michelle Rodriguez aka Letty’s character in the fourth installment (Fast & Furious in 2019) left them with nothing but heartbreak! The film then prompts Dom (Vin Diesel) and Brian (Paul Walker) to avenge his death, and everyone rejoices. However, fans were pleasantly shocked and surprised at Fast Five’s post-credits scene. It was nothing they could have ever imagined as they watched Special Agent Fuentes (Eva Mendes), last seen in 2 Fast 2 Furious, cast Special Agent Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson) as a was handling the file. Although there was a somewhat blurry picture involved, it was very clear who everyone was looking at – lying down.
With that, it turns out that Letty wasn’t actually dead at all, and it came as a surprise to the actress as much as it was to everyone else.
In the weekly podcast with EW, Michelle opens up about how she had no idea they were bringing her character back and also, how Vin Diesel is a man of his words. “I didn’t know. Basically when I said yes to it, I said yes to it, with the exception that they’d test an alternate ending living with me because I knew the audience didn’t want that. There was already so little representation for women, period. And there are so many women who love racing cars all over the world. And to take that away from them with a character who was really kick ass, I Didn’t think this is what people wanted, ”says the actress.
She later recounts how shocked she was when she found out about her character’s return. “And I didn’t even know about it until I actually went to see Fast 5, and I saw the tag expire. I was in Paris. Vin didn’t even tell me. He was like, ‘About this.’ Don’t worry. I get it,'” she said.
Fast 9 will soon hit the theaters in India.
