BTS is one of the most successful bands. They are going places with their music. He recently released his new single Butter and it is already a huge hit. While BTS has been ingrained in the K-pop genre, band member RM feels that the group members don’t see it that way. In a recent interview to Rollingstone, he talked about BTS, which is a genre in itself and not K-pop. He had said, ‘This is a very important debate. Because what they call K-pop, that genre is spreading very fast. For example, in some so-called K-pop groups like Europe, India, China, there are only foreigners everywhere. He said that BTS is also expanding very fast and K-pop is so pervasive now. He went on to say that one can say that K-pop is for Koreans who sing Korean songs. “That may be K-pop. But what about “Dynamite”? We sing the song in English. But we’re all Korean, so one might say it’s a K-pop song. Or they might say that It’s just a pop song because it’s in English.” He also said that the members don’t really care whether people see them as inside or outside K-pop. “The important fact is that we’re all Korean, and we’re singing a pop song. That’s why we said our genre is just BTS. This debate is very important to the music industry, but it doesn’t mean much to our members Yes, ”said the singer.
