Popular South Korean pop band BTS appeared on Good Morning America this morning to perform the song Butter and Dynamite. The ARMYs were impressed by the exceptional performance and killer looks of the BTS boys. In no time, ARMY’s excitement turned to anger when the Good Morning America host spoke about the culture of K-pop rather than focusing on BTS. Also, the ARMYs got upset because of the choice of words being used in the show.
The segment begins with how BTS’s music is uniting fans around the world. But host TJ Holmes instead introduced everyone to the K-pop industry and showed clips of SuperM, Twice, Espa, and more. This act angered and agitated the ARMY. He lost his cool because instead of talking about BTS’s journey, he shared why K-pop, in general, is popular. The host called BTS ‘new to the scene’ and ARMY was upset by the abuse BTS received. In no time, ARMY started trending Free BTS on Twitter and expressed its opinion on the same. Here’s a look at how netizens reacted to all this.
Have a look at the tweets…
Free bts from this industry who can’t see them as their musicians

Free BTS from Kpop. They are their own person. When you mention an American artist on TV you are not referring to the entire American music industry. I’m so tired and tans are better. They deserve to be commended individually as artists, not to be used to propel the entire industry

It’s like talking about Taylor Swift and impersonating other artist with a picture of her.
This is so disgusting….. #freeBTS #freebtsfromkpop pic.twitter.com/32jJTvPQEw— Taehyung WIFFY (@TaehyungWIFFY1) May 28, 2021
GMA literally invited BTS over and then talked about the popularity and appeal of K-pop?? If they had invited an American artist, would they have introduced the American music industry as a whole? They are individual artists UGH #freeBTS

Well, this isn’t the first time Good Morning America has been criticized for its choice of words. Once he even called Minari’s actress Yun Yuh Jung as a breakout star.
