BTS has just released their new single Butter and the song’s music video has broken its own record for biggest music video premiere on YouTube, with 3.9 million peaks concurrently. This song has got more than 100 million views within 21 hours. And while fans are grooving to the peppy number, the members of the K-pop boy band literally had to fight each other to pen the song’s lyrics.
As we know BTS works with other producers and songwriters, the septet found international writers for Butters. However, the members of the group had to modify some lines to suit their style. In a recent press conference, BTS revealed that there was some kind of competition among the rappers to shortlist their songs for the song.
“When we got the song, we realized that the rap part needed some sort of arrangement that could match our own style. So, Suga, J-Hope, and I had to participate in rewriting the verses. It was a competition, and I was lucky to be selected,” RM was quoted as saying by Koriyabu.
Suga admitted that it was difficult for him to write the song in English as he had to study it but failed miserably. He said, “I actually studied English to write for “Butter”, because it’s an English song, but yeah, I failed mercilessly. But in the end, it was RM (who is apparently fluent in English). which made it into the final version of Butters.
Butters is the second BTS song after Dynamite to be performed entirely in English, greatly improving its chances on the radio. The song is a dance pop track with the band’s distinctive bassline and crisp synth sounds. The choreography is a combination of group and unit dance, with highlighted gestures such as stroking of hair, kissing, blowing and walking on tiptoes.
Korean boy band sensation BTS nominated for all categories and Puerto Rican rapper Bad Bunny also won several awards at the Billboard Music Awards in Los Angeles on Sunday night.
Meanwhile, BTS has announced an online live-streaming event, BTS 2021 Muster Sowozu, to mark the band’s eighth anniversary and known as ARMY. The two-day event will be held on June 13 and 14. June 14 will see a world tour version featuring the group’s foreign language songs. The group announced the event with an official poster, in which the seven-member band stands together against a backdrop of nature, holding the planets of the Solar System on balloon-like stars.
